In fall of 2026, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs will present Marion Delarue’s works in the Cabinet des Dessins, Papiers peints et Photographies, the result of the artist’s residency at the museum. Marion Delarue draws inspiration from the world of ceremonial adornment, which is embodied through her ongoing preoccupations with the body.

Her pieces, which constantly question the notion of wearability, play on the blurring of lines between authenticity and imitation, between nature and artifice, exploring the concepts of simulacrum and metamorphosis. Passionate about traditional Asian techniques and body adornments, she creates ornaments using materials as varied as feathers, mother-of-pearl, porcelain, glass, and lacquer. Fascinated by tian-ts'ui, an ancient Chinese craft that incorporates delicate panels of kingfisher-feather marquetry into jewelry, Marion Delarue spent three months immersing herself in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, as well as through exchanges with the museum’s staff, including curators, conservators, and scientists, to create new works.

A graduate of the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs du Rhin, Marion Delarue (1986, France) has won several awards, including First Prize at the European Triennial of Contemporary Jewellery (2017), the Talente Award (2019, Germany), and the Winner Award at the Cheongju International Craft Competition (2019, South Korea). She has also been an artist-in-residence in China, Korea, and Japan, notably at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto. She lives and works in the Perche region of France.
