In fall 2026, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs will present works by Marion Delarue in the Cabinet des Dessins, Papiers peints et Photographies, the result of the artist's residency at the museum.

Marion Delarue draws inspiration from the world of ceremonial adornment, a recurring theme in her exploration of the body. Constantly questioning the notion of wearability, her works blur the boundaries between authenticity and imitation, nature and artifice, while exploring the concepts of simulacrum and metamorphosis.

Passionate about traditional Asian techniques and bodily adornment, she creates ornaments using materials as varied as feathers, mother-of-pearl, porcelain, glass, and lacquer. Fascinated by tian-ts'ui, an ancient Chinese craft that incorporates delicate kingfisher-feather marquetry into jewelry, Marion Delarue spent three months immersed in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Drawing on both the museum's holdings and exchanges with its curators, conservators, and scientists, she developed a new body of work for this exhibition.

A graduate of the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs du Rhin, Marion Delarue (born in France in 1986) has received numerous distinctions, including First Prize at the European Triennial of Contemporary Jewelry (2017), the Talente Award (Germany, 2019), and was recognized as a Prize Winner at the Cheongju International Craft Competition (South Korea, 2019). She has also completed artist residencies in China, Korea, and Japan, notably at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto. She lives and works in the Perche region of France.
